For our September 2026 Reader Retreat The Bookshelf is happy to partnering with The Paxton House! Your ticket to Reader Retreat includes:

There are no refunds on Reader Retreat tickets. If you are unable to attend the retreat you purchased tickets for, you may sell your ticket to another attendee up to 14 days before the retreat. If needed, we will connect you with a potential buyer from our waitlist

If the retreat is fewer than 14 days away, The Bookshelf is not responsible for connecting you with a new attendee to buy your ticket. 


If you are unable to attend and unable to sell your ticket, it is still non-refundable and non-transferable to another retreat date. 

This ticket option gets you a room in the main house of The Paxton. You can view the house and rooms here. This historic landmark property is located steps from downtown Thomasville and features six bedrooms and five bathrooms. Bathrooms are a mixture of charming clawfoot tub, shower combinations and walk-in showers. Multiple living areas, a sparkling new kitchen & one of the best porches in town will make your visit spectacular!

Please note there are 2 sets of rooms that share a bathroom. If you know another fellow retreater and would like to share a bathroom with them, let us know in the below form!

If you are in a King bed room and would like to book it as a double occupancy room to share with a friend or a family member that is also attending the retreat, there is an option to select double occupancy with an added fee.
