I picked this book up for two reasons: the stunning cover and the comp to Jasmine Warga's A Rover's Story. No surprise that it was so well done. With a complex familial theme that pulls at your heart strings and a typewriter that you wanted so badly to befriend, this book had me hooked. It felt like the hug you get fromThe Vanderbeekers meets the wonder that you experience reading A Rover's Story.

The Other Valley was one of those books that leaves you pondering what you would do. While asking big questions of what does fate actually look like and who deserves a goodbye,The Other Valley is at its core a coming-of-age story of a girl who's life is completely changed from one decision. Readers and book clubs that loved discussing The Measure by Nikki Erlick will devour this one.

Nova Jacobs, to me, is an incredibly underrated author. From The Last Equation of Isaac Severy to this novel she makes readers lust over characters, ponder introspectively at what ifs, and puzzle into thrilling mysteries.The Stars Turned Inside Out pulls in the Blake Crouch audience while also entertaining those who appreciate a classic murder mystery.

Tim Johnston is one of those authors that I will always read because there's no doubt in my mind that I won't love it. With the lyrical writing akin to Peter Heller and the straightforward, unrelenting plot of an S.A. Cosby novel, he takes on small town secrets in a way that leaves me wanting more. Tim Johnston has the ability to create a novel that reads quietly, but is anything but.Distant Sons features the stand-up character Sean Courtland, who will grab your attention from the start, and leave you cheering him on the entire way through. He has become one of my favorite characters!

I don't totally know how to put into words just how much I love this book. It has quickly become one of my all time favorite novels.The Widely Unknown Myth of Apple & Dorothy takes on complicated friendships, grief, and what it means to be human in the most beautiful ways. It won't leave you in tears, but it will leave you sad that it is over. 

For those who just love a well written thriller,  Murder in the Family should be your next read. In 2003, Luke Rider was murdered at his own home by a killer who has yet to be identified.
